Between the 30th and 31st of January took place the eighth general meeting of NIWE project in Inductotherm – Ondarlan, Errenteria (Gipuzkoa).
The meeting of the first day began with the review of the tasks already completed. After some changes in the consortium project, tasks have a good evolution and it is expected that all of them are finished for the completion of the project, established on the 30th of June 2018.
Firstly, partners updated the information on the F2A aluminum demonstrator installed in Turin, in F2A´s plant. The furnace based on the WPT technology (Wirelles Power Transfer) of 100KW has a capacity of 800Kg and it is able to melt at 680ºC.
Then, the company Deguisa presented 3 scenarios to explain the differences between the different refractory materials and their suitability for the aluminum, steel and iron furnaces developed in the project.
The first day of the meeting ended with a guided tour to Inductotherm – Ondarlan facilities.
On the second day of the meeting, the consortium presented the tasks related to the iron and steel demonstrators. The WPT tests for these demonstrators have been carried out successfully without any notable incident and showed a 90-92% efficiency until the secondary coil.
